Discover Tranquility at IDO Yamanakako

A Sanctuary for Spiritual Renewal

IDO Yamanakako Retreat Center (formally Torchbearers Yamanakako, Japan) is nestled in a beautiful forest area by the Lake Yamanakako in the Yamanashi prefecture. The property is just a short walk to the tranquil Lake Yamanakako.

Lake Yamanakako is the largest of the  Fuji Five Lakes  in surface area and the highest in elevation. It is the third highest lake in Japan, with a mean surface altitude of 980.5 meters (3,217 ft).

Torchbearers Yamanakako was founded in 1995 by Tanazawa Hideki. ( https://torchbearers.org/ ) The center runs a two month spring Bible school,   and is  a year round conference or retreat center for church groups, schools, kids camps, families and individuals.

In 2024, the stewardship of the retreat center passed from the faithful hands of Torchbearers to ICM Yamanakako, an associate of ICM Singapore. ICM Singapore was founded in 1990 as a para-church organization focusing on church planting in Asia Pacific ( www.icmsingapore.org.sg )

We remain committed to serve the Body of Christ in Japan and beyond. Whether you are planning a quiet personal retreat, a church camp, or a training program to equip the saints in Christ, our facilities – with capacity for up to 80 guests – are open year-round and designed to support your journey with God.

This new chapter is one of restoration and fresh hope. As we step forward, we do so with deep gratitude for those who came before and with anticipation for what lies ahead. We invite you to come and be part of what God is doing here in Japan
